Monthly Archives: July 2011

The day is dragging. I cannot blog in a consistent fashion. Or write. I totally think that I have forgotten how to write poetry. I am horrible at time management. There are not enough hours in the day. I miss the days of no abandon. The days of tattered novels, beaten notebooks and fire. At times, I find the glow of a computer screen more daunting than a broken cliff. I cry over inmate shows. My hair looks better dirty than clean.  All fashion blogs are the same. I’m intellectually bored.  I don’t think mustaches are funny. I like owls because of my grandma, not because urban outfitters tells me to. I want to buy an overpriced handbag and pay cash. I need new ink. I dream of glitter and flashes and dwell in black and white. I am too practical, pragmatic and well-functioning for my own creative good. I clearly need it to be the weekend. Maybe it’s time to revisit, reclaim, restore, and resurface myself.

It’s hot, it’s sticky, and often the case in the summer, your makeup ends up all over your face.  Sometimes, you don’t even realize this fact until you get home and then catch a quick glimpse of yourself in the mirror.  Luckily, with Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer from Rimmel, this won’t happen to you! Often, my eyes do not agree with waterproof products, but this Eye Definer, goes on smooth, and never dried out.

I was sent two new colors, Deep Ocean (a pretty navy blue) and Purple Shock (a bright lavender with POP), to try out.  I have green eyes, so the Purple Shock REALLY made my eyes stand out. The Deep Ocean is not a bright, garish blue, and is perfect for a more subtle look.  The Eye Definer goes on smooth and silky and looks best when smudged.  There is a built-in smudger for this, a nice feature to have, and the pencil twists for easy replenishing.  For a waterproof product, the product is super smooth and bright. The colors are not dull at all and both looked GREAT under the eye, and on the lid over shadow.  Purple Shock may be a bit too intense for some to wear under the eye as a daytime look, but the color can be smudged to be toned down a bit. The price is right too, at around $5.70 a piece. If navy blue or purple aren’t for you, Rimmel offers a few other shades for the Exaggerate Eye Definer such as: Noir, Sable, Emerald Sparkle, and Precious Gold. There really is something for every look and every person!

I was also sent Match Perfection Foundation SPF 15 in Warm Ivory. I have an uneven skin tone, often it is worse in the summer, and this foundation was great to try!  Not only did the Warm Ivory match my skin perfectly, it blended well, and held fast.  The Match Perfection contains not only SPF, but also a three ingredient combination that allows the foundation to match so well.  The combo includes, a “Smart Tone Technology” to match skin’s texture and tone, an “Oxygen Complex” to keep skin fresh and help it “breathe” and finally a new complex known as “Blue Sapphire Complex” which fights yellow undertones in skin, which we ALL have.  I don’t know much about makeup scientifics, but I am going to assume that the three of these complexes together are what make for such an amazing, clean finish. Match perfection is available in sixteen different shades and is around $8.99 a bottle.  The other shades outside of Warm Ivory are: Ivory, True Ivory, Soft Ivory, Soft Beige, Classic Beige, Natural Ivory, True Nude, Sand, Nude, Warm Honey, Warm Sand, Soft Honey, Natural Beige, Natural Carmel and finally, Warm Carmel.

All Rimmel Londonn products can be found and major retailers and drugstores nationwide!

Heading to Houston today with Mike to see my brother Steve and the kids. SO excited. I love Houston and love visiting at least once a year. I’m ready to swim, read, shop, relax, party, and catch up with my family!  My brother lives in an area called the Woodlands and it’s GORGEOUS.  Everytime I travel I get so inspired and refreshed and recharged. I need to learn to harness all that when I return. Looking forward to a long weekend away from the everyday!! xox

There are a few “classic” songs that I hate. LOATHE actually. No amount of swaying, justification, or reasoning will change my opinion. I cannot stand any of the following. So here they are for you to enjoy!!! : )

Pink Cadillac-Bruce Springsteen

Paradise by the Dashboard Light-Meatloaf

Benny and the Jets-Elton John

Sweet Caroline-Neil Diamond

Hotel California-The Eagles

That may be it in the annoyance category for now. xoxo

Yesterday I spent the day up in Vermilon with my family and had a great time. We sat on the pier and watched the fireworks shoot off right in in front of us. Our own private show. Mike was able to come up after a longer than expected day at work and watching the fireworks together just reminded me off all the times in the past we have done the same thing together. The Fourth really is one of my favorite holidays.  Today, my flags are flying proud and I’m going to spend the day doing whatever I wish.

Happy Fourth of July everyone!! xx
